Kirkby Stephen Station is a mile and a half out of the town itself, and sits on a hillside overlooking the fells and Upper Eden Valley. It is a working station with seven passenger trains running and stopping both north and south each day.
The cottage is part of the main station building and sits right on the platform. Although a quiet station, members of the public visit the station throughout
the day, the last passenger train being 19 50hrs.

How to find us:
Booking Office Cottage is very easy to get to. There are good rail links from both Leeds and Carlisle taking you right to the front door. By car we are just 15 minutes from junction 38 of the M6, follow the A685 (signposted Brough) for 9 miles.
The station access road being on your right immediately after passing under the railway bridge. If coming from the East, take the A66 at Scotch Corner, then at Brough the A685 to Kirkby Stephen. Pass through the town and the station is a mile further on, up the hill on your left (don’t get confused with Kirkby Stephen East station, the preservation site at the bottom of the hill!) With this in mind we regret that Booking Office Cottage is not suitable for those
with mobility difficulties. We cannot guarantee that the accomodation is suitable
for allergy sufferers, but we will be happy to answer any questions you may have
about the accommodation and its suitability for your stay. Because this is a
working station on a busy mainline railway, we regret that Booking Office
Cottage is not suitable for children under the age of 11.
